Bill Clinton, speaking in 2003, on why President Bush shouldn’t be criticized for acting on the belief that Iraq has chemical and biological WMDs—really!
I don’t think that you can criticize the president for trying to act on the belief that they have a substantial amount of chemical and biological stock. That’s what I was always told.

Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock
Senator Hillary Clinton, speaking on the Senate floor on October 10, 2002, justifying the war against Iraq
In the four years since the inspectors left, intelligence reports show that Saddam Hussein has worked to rebuild his chemical and biological weapons stock, his missile delivery capability, and his nuclear program. It is clear, however, that, if left unchecked, Saddam Hussein will continue to increase his capacity to wage biological and chemical warfare and will keep trying to develop nuclear weapons.

That’s why I supported the Iraq thing
Bill Clinton, quoted in Time Magazine on June 28, 2004, on why he *supported* the invasion of Iraq
So you’re sitting there as president, you’re reeling in the aftermath of September 11th, so, yeah, you want to go get Bin Laden and do Afghanistan and all that, but you also have to say, ‘Well, my first responsibility now is to try everything possible to make sure that this terrorist network and other terrorist networks can’t reach chemical and biological weapons, or small amounts of fissile material. I’ve gotta do that. That’s why I supported the Iraq thing.

How dare you suggest that we, in the freest nation on earth, live in tyranny?
Former President Bill Clinton on patriotism—‘… there is nothing patriotic about hating your country or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government ...’
How dare you suggest that we, in the freest nation on earth, live in tyranny? How dare you call yourselves patriots and heroes? I say to you, all of you, there is nothing patriotic about hating your country or pretending that you can love your country but despise your government. There is nothing heroic about turning your back on America or ignoring your own responsibilities. If you want to preserve your own freedom, you must stand up for the freedom of others with whom you disagree, but you also must stand up for the rule of law. You cannot have one without other.

The only thing I’m sorry about …
"I’d have avoided some of the pain if I could. Anyone would. But I wouldn’t have missed knowing any of the people—even the ones whose leaving hurt most. In fact, the only thing I’m sorry about is that I didn’t meet one particular guy, a clown named Joe Skelton. You know, he sure picked the right profession. I mean, a clown’s got it all. He never has to hold back: He can do as he pleases. The mouth and the eyes are painted on. So if you wanta cry, you can go right ahead. The make up won’t smear. You’ll still be smiling. . . .”
